About Dr M Hannington
When Dr Matthew Hannington was 11 years old, he had his appendix out, and it was at this young age that his interest in surgery was sparked.
He grew up in Cape Town but moved to Johannesburg to finish his high school career. He studied medicine at the University of Witwatersrand, finishing in 2011. He then went on to complete his internship at the Pietermaritzburg Hospital complex (2012 – 2013) followed by a year of community service in rural Kwa-Zulu Natal, at Bethesda Hospital.
