Benign Breast Surgery
Breast pathology is common and potentially distressing for patients. Common conditions include: lumps, nipple discharge, skin changes and infections. Depending on the patient’s age and risk factors most breast lumps are investigated with an examination, imaging (mammogram and or ultrasound) and a biopsy. Dr Hannington has experience in assessing and managing benign and malignant breast disease but will refer breast cancer cases on to a colleague in a high volume unit with multidisciplinary input. Benign conditions can generally be managed as same day cases with a quick recovery of a few days.
