Skin and Soft Tissue
Lumps and Bumps
Soft tissue lumps are common and are very rarely cancerous. The most commonly encountered lumps are lipomas or cysts. These generally can be diagnosed on examination and don’t require further investigation before being removed. Surgical removal can be done under local or general anaesthetic depending on the size and location of the lump. Most cases are done as day case procedures and have a quick recovery of 1-7 days.
Benign Skin Lesions
Benign skin diseases can be diagnosed on examination with or without a biopsy. These can usually be removed under local anaesthetic as minor procedures. Dr Hannington does not treat skin cancer and will refer you on to a Plastic Surgery colleague if this is suspected or diagnosed.
